First and foremost I want to say that I am hereby changing the name of Thanksgiving to Gooblepalooza thanks to Old Navy because the word is just so fun to say (if you don’t believe me say it out loud once or twice) and because Thanksgiving dinner is all about eating turkey and canberries.  No, that isn’t a typo, they are canberries.  Haven’t you ever noticed how they come out of the can all nice and can shaped.  They really are a strange miracle of food stuffs that need to be celebrated more than once or twice a year – canberries also seem popular at Christmas.

Since it’s the thing to do and everyone else is posting these kinds of blogs and emails to their email lists and so forth, this is my Gobblepalooza list of things I am thankful this year.

  • I am thankful for Gluten-free Bisquick.  If you missed my blog about this yesterday go read it.  I will wait.  This stuff is as awesome as canberries and bacon.  Seriously.  I am in love.  In the world of gluten-free food nothing rocks more than this.  We made pancakes out of it this morning and they tasted like real pancakes without the gritty texture that you tend to get from using rice flour.  They also didn’t have that rubber-like consistency that you sometimes get from other flours.  These were real pancakes and I seriously doubt that there is anyone on the planet that could tell the difference.  I can’t wait to use it in other stuff.
  • I am thankful that everyone is still alive.  We had a number of trips to the ER this year.  Savanna has bad coordination problems, but she’s walking okay a good 90% of the time now.  Oddly, whatever is causing this coordination problem has put an end to her autistic sleep disorder.  It’s a weird trade off.  Cherokee hasn’t killed herself from dehydration and Sierra hasn’t broken any bones running in flip flops.  I am sure there has been a few trips to the ER that I am forgetting, after all when we took Sierra up for her ankle, we were taking bets on who would be there next.  We haven’t had any ER trips due to food allergies, despite the food allergy list growing, which makes me very happy.  Also in this category I am glad that the neighbors Pit Bull that they can’t seem to control didn’t eat Dakota.
  • I am thankful for my surgery.  It is so wonderful not to have to deal with the pain and sickness that comes with endometriosis.  Menopause hasn’t been as bad as I expected it would be even with HRT.
  • I am thankful for our new GP.  This guy is wonderful.  I can’t say enough good things about him.  It’s not every day you find a doctor who actually listens to you and takes the time to sort out what is going on.  He found and treated health problems with my husband that three other doctors missed, giving me back the man I married.  He also put me on meds to control my fibro, something my neuro didn’t do.  Thanks to him I am in less pain and not peeing every five minutes.
  • I am thankful for my good friends Kris and Steve.  Kris is our next door neighbor who spent almost the entire summer over here after loosing his job at the hospital.  There is quite a list of small things that he has done for me that has helped me keep my sanity.  The best part is this is just Kris being Kris.  It’s not like he went out of his way.  He also taught me how to play Magic the Gathering, something I have always wanted to learn to do but never had anyone to play with.  As for Steve, every day for the last 26 years since we met I have been thankful for having him in life for so many reasons.  Everyone should have a friend that is just that damn awesome.
  • I am thankful Reese’s Cups and M&M’s.  Do I really need to explain why?
  • I am thankful for The Sims.  For many years it has served as video Prozac for me and kept me sane.  I am also thankful for Pokemon (especially Mudkip and Flaaffy) although I don’t have a reason.  It’s much like how I feel about llamas, they are just totally awesome but I really have no reasons for why I feel that way.
  • I am thankful for adult entertainment because without it I wouldn’t have met some really cool people and I wouldn’t have my website.  I also love telling people I am a porn critic when they ask what I do.  I love seeing the confused look on their faces.
  • I am thankful for my family.  I really shouldn’t have to say this but I know someone will ask me about it if I don’t list it.
  • I am thankful for homeschooling.
  • I am thankful for House, WWE Wrestling, Psych, White Collar and V because without them I would have nothing on TV to watch.
  • I am thankful for Star Trek and Star Wars.  It’s a geek thing, you wouldn’t understand.
  • There are so many other things that I am thankful for that I just can’t list everything.
